Amorgos is unusual compared to other cyclades islands.

It is very mountainous and there are many natural water springs.

The steep, rocky- cliffed coast of the island gives way, here and there, to deep yet safe inlets.

The deep valleys are fertile and as such are cultivated with olives and fruit trees.

Most of the vegetation is of a typically mediterranean variety.

Holly, juniper, prickly pears, oaks, holm-oaks and olives are widespread.

The sea is deep and populated by a variety of fish.
