The most eastern of the cyclades, Amorgos is situated in the heart of the Aegean sea.
It lies halfway between Athens and Rhodes and its co-ordinates are: 36° 5' N - 25° 5' E (K.h.)
It covers an area of 121 square kilometres.
The island of Amorgos is 32 km long and 8 km wide.
The coastline measures a good 113 km.
There are two splendid natural harbour ports on Amorgos - Katapola in the centre of the island and Egiali to the north. These are the two most important centres after the main town of Chora.
There are about 2000 permanent residents on Amorgos island.
The highest points are Krikelos (822 metres) and Prophet Elia (699 Metres).
